Liu Huanwei: Grow through trials and tributations, and elevate through self-discipline

Liu Huanwei, the chief engineer of the Western Henan Branch, has been cultivating himself through self-discipline since he started working. He has made efficient use of his spare time to self-study various professional knowledge, constantly demanding of himself and continuously improving his personal abilities. Thanks to his strong thirst for knowledge, after joining Jiangnan in 2013, Liu Huanwei has transformed from a novice in the supervision industry to a "versatile talent" highly praised by his colleagues in just a few years. With his superb professional skills and efficient problem-solving abilities, he has won high praise from his leaders and client units.
In 2013, Liu Huanwei served as a supervisor and professional supervision engineer at the Harbin Wanda Cultural Tourism City project. This project is large in scale and has high requirements for construction quality. To meet the owner's high standards and demands, Liu Huanwei started learning from reading drawings, studying various drawing collections, norms, and the management methods of Wanda Group. Before the construction of each sub-item and key process, he summarized and mastered the key points of construction and acceptance in advance, sought advice from experienced predecessors on control methods, and conducted post-construction reviews and summaries. As a result, he quickly mastered the skills of supervision business and achieved the first and second places many times in the project building number evaluation.
In 2016, Liu Huanwei came to the Yuncheng Citizen Service Center project and began to engage in project management work. When Liu Huanwei first came into contact with the PPP model and had no project management experience at all, in order to carry out his work better, he began to study PPP policy documents and project management skills with great effort. Every night, he would study overtime until the early hours of the morning by consulting materials, reviewing and summarizing, self-studying and seeking advice from seniors. After about two years of continuous study, he has mastered the professional knowledge of the entire process of engineering consulting, including pre-planning, approval and construction application, design management, bidding and contract management, investment control, and project management. He has also successively written several summary papers and PPT topics. Diligent study has brought about significant improvement and growth. Liu Huanwei gradually moved up to management positions and began to take on the role of project manager.
In October 2018, Liu Huanwei joined the project management work in Shanzhou District, Sanmenxia City, responsible for the design management of multiple projects. This was another brand-new challenge for him as he took over the design management work for the first time. Liu Huanwei is eager to learn and actively consults relevant professionals such as draftsmen from design institutes and project managers. He often has non-stop voice calls for several hours. The commencement tasks of various projects in Sanmenxia are tight, the design cycle is extremely short, there are many departments that need to be communicated and coordinated, and the situation changes rapidly. Facing numerous existing problems and difficulties, Liu Huanwei, while constantly learning new norms and professional knowledge, increased the frequency of communication with different departments, institutions and units, and coordinated various tasks. Eventually, this enabled the design management work to progress smoothly and all projects to start construction smoothly.
There is no shortcut to success. The reason why outstanding people stand out is that they know how to make use of all time and seize every opportunity to seek knowledge and accumulate. Liu Huanwei has cultivated himself through self-discipline and improved himself through learning. He has gradually grown from an inexperienced on-site supervisor and achieved a perfect transformation from supervision to full-process engineering consulting. His struggle experience truly interprets what it means to reap what one sows.
